The Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Washington, DC is currently seeking highly qualified graduate students interested in an internship position, that will enhance their understanding of the Republic of Yemen and regional politics of the Middle East. This internship offers students the ability to develop a deeper understanding of Yemen-U.S. bilateral relationship through the dynamics at work in the Embassy, and improve upon their research and analytical skills, and increase their networking opportunities. We welcome and encourage applicants from all backgrounds. The successful candidate will provide both administrative and substantive support to different sections of The Embassy of the Republic of Yemen.
Duties/ Responsibilities of Intern
- Provide substantive support to officers of the section as necessary and appropriate;
- Logistic and documentary support for the Ambassador, the Deputy- Chief of Mission the Counsellors and the Program Officers such as briefing books, documents research, registration to meetings, hospitality forms, etc.;
- Accompany and provide support, subject to the direction, to senior officers and other senior officials of the Government of the Republic of Yemen attending meetings or other functions held in Washington, DC on issues and themes relevant to the conduct of Yemeni bilateral diplomacy;
- Subject to approval by the responsible officer(s) within the Section, attend events organized by other Embassies or by non-governmental organizations and submit reports on the events.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Intern’s Requirements and Qualifications
- Have graduated from university or be enrolled in a graduate program (undergraduates enrolled in programs may apply for the internship program, but preference will be given to graduates).
- Be fluent in English, (Arabic language is a plus).
- Be a good, clear and precise writer, capable of analytic and synthetic thought and sound research in libraries and via the internet.
- Have the ability to work in teams.

- Perfect knowledge of computer tools (Word, Internet, Email, social media platforms)
- Strong interest in international relations.
Time frame:
Interns will be expected to work Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with flexibility hours. The internship will run from July 15, 2019, to October 15, 2019.
Confidentiality:
You will be working with sensitive documents and must keep any and all unpublished information confidential during the course of the internship. You may not publish any documents based on such information.
Cost:
This internship is unpaid. The Embassy of the Republic of Yemen will pay the commuting expenses. Any other costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
