Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary

Ambassador Abdulwahab Alhajjri is an accomplished career diplomat with a strong background in international relations. He was the visionary Founder and Chairman of the Yemen Information Center, based in Aden, Yemen, as well as the Founder and Chairman of Alternative Tracks Consulting, situated in Abu Dhabi, UAE. With a career spanning over three decades in diplomacy, law, and international affairs, he has played a pivotal role in enhancing Yemen’s global stature.

From June 2012 to June 2014, Ambassador Alhajjri served as Ambassador at the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was key in strengthening Yemen’s international relations. Previously, he was Yemen’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States and Mexico from September 1997 to June 2012. During his tenure in Washington D.C., he achieved significant milestones, which included revitalizing U.S.-Yemeni relations, advancing security partnerships, and creating a supportive environment for economic development and essential aid initiatives in Yemen.


Before his ambassadorship, Ambassador Alhajjri held two notable positions in the United States: he first served as Minister Plenipotentiary in 1995 and earlier as Cultural Attaché in 1982, where he launched Yemen’s first cultural mission to the U.S. His diplomatic experience in the Middle East also encompasses a distinguished tenure in Egypt from 1987 to 1992, where he served as Cultural Attaché and later as Political Counselor at the Yemeni Embassy in Cairo.
